A tattoo consultation helps you get a better understanding about your new tattoo and what you must consider before going in for your tattoo appointment. This consultation could take place weeks before the actual tattoo appointment.

At this time, you will have the chance to express your ideas, discuss any designs, decide on placements and colors. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions or concerns you might have regarding your new tattoo or any medical concerns.

Please be aware, depending on size and detail the artist may not be able to discuss pricing at that particular time. Rough estimates may be able to be given, however, in some cases the design might need to be finalized before setting a exact price.
Here at INKIADORE, we price on size, detail and color. We do not price by hour.

If both parties decide to go ahead with the process, there is a deposit that is required before setting the appointment. The deposit amount depends on your appointment slot. This amount will go towards your tattoo. Your appointment will then be set and you are a step closer to your masterpiece!

What you need to know before heading to the shop

  • Have an Idea

It’s important to have your core idea before setting up a consultation. Even if its just lettering, try to decide on a font. During the consultation, your artist can work out the finer details. You can show them any images you’ve saved as inspiration and figure out placement and pricing.

  • May Take Time

Depending on the time we have available, the artist may be able to create your tattoo on the spot or we may have sketch it several days later, but ultimately, the final results will depend on several factors:

    • how much of your body you want to dedicate to the art

    • how feasible the tattoo placement is

    • how well the colors you want will show up on your skin tone

    • how much time you want to spend with the artist

  • Style

Once you’ve decided on what you may want, you have to figure out how you want it to look. There are a ton of different tattooing styles, but you don’t need to be familiar with the lingo, browse and save images, then show them to us during your consultation. We can use these as inspiration to create a one-of-a-kind piece for you.

  • Design

If you see something you like, save the picture to you phone or print out a couple of different versions to bring to your artist. They may not have your exact design but it gives us an idea of what you might be looking for.

  • Color

Although the style of tattoo often dictates the color palette, the artist can work with you to modify the design and style to better suit what you want.

Skin tone plays a big role in how well individual colors will hold.

    • Color pigments are more vibrant on fairer skin tones.

    • Darker skin tones typically hold darker colors, better than lighter hues. Having darker skin doesn’t mean that you can’t get light hues, these options usually just do not appear as pigmented as darker colors might.

    • Greyscale is also an option or as some might understand it better as, Black and Gray. With this style, your artist will create the appropriate shades and hues to go with your design.

  • Size and Location

Outlines and shapes may look sharp and slick at first, but over time, these can fade or even blur. It all depends on the size and location of your tattoo. That’s why it’s important to think about where you want your tattoo and how visible you want it to be. Your artist can help you weigh the pros and cons of the location and sizing.
